Construction workers are being encouraged to sign up to a new Government funded training scheme aimed at up-skilling existing employees.
Llite Training in Hull has recently secured a contract offering a number of free places on a range of courses delivering nationally recognised qualifications to experienced construction workers.
Employees who have a wealth of construction experience but do not hold any formal qualifications will be able to access free training, enabling them to achieve a Diploma Level 2, NVQ Level 2 as well as a range of Key Skills.
The qualifications are delivered using a combination of site visits, online learning and sessions at Llite’s Training Centres in Hull, Sheffield and Scunthorpe.
In order to minimise disruption, each course is designed to suit the needs of employers and individuals, including weekend and evening sessions if necessary.
Managing Director Christine Willson said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for companies and employees in the area to benefit from a fantastic Government initiative.
The training allows experienced employees to demonstrate their competencies and gain highly regarded qualifications, helping them to develop sustainable, high quality careers.
And it enables employers to develop a highly qualified, skilled workforce - helping them to win more business, develop a more productive workforce and ensure their employees have the training they need to keep up with current legislation."
As part of the scheme candidates will be eligible to access further training such as, CSCS cards, Asbestos Awareness, and Health and Safety completely free of charge.
The training could prove especially useful to workers who need a Skilled Workers CSCS Card but only have City & Guilds Craft and Advanced Craft Certificates, as the scheme no longer accepts these qualifications.
So how are you to meant to get a CSCS Skilled Worker Card?
Llite assessor Kev Davison explains: "Currently, workers can apply for a Red Experienced Workers Card, which is available to everyone with on the job experience, but missed out on an industrial accreditation opportunity. This card however is only valid for one year and is non-renewable.
The Red Experienced Workers Card is issued on a temporary basis, whilst an NVQ Diploma is being achieved; it is then expected that the Red Card is replaced by a Blue Skilled Workers Card on achievement of a NVQ Diploma.
To qualify for a Blue Skilled Workers Card you must have achieved an NVQ Diploma at Level 2
If you have a City & Guilds Craft Certificate, Advanced Craft Certificate or a Diploma level 2 in Joinery, Bricklaying or Plastering, Llite can provide a FREE NVQ Diploma Level 2 and FREE CSCS Blue Skilled Workers Card.
Upon signing up for the training, Llite Assessors will travel to your site to carry out the required assessments - ensuring that disruption is kept to a minimum.
We aim to complete the assessments in 4 visits with each visit lasting approximately 2 hours.
This is an excellent opportunity for your business to reap the benefits of having fully qualified work force which will help increase productivity and improve your quality of service."
