Aims:
- To give an entry-level qualification for experienced domestic and commercial electricians wishing to extend their work scope into solar PV
Overview:
With fuel prices soaring and CO2 levels constantly on the rise, alternative energy solutions are more important than ever. One particularly popular solution is Solar Photovoltaic (PV). Consumers are turning to solutions such as Solar PV as they seek out cheaper ways to fuel their homes. In addition to this there is substantial government funding available to homeowners who install Solar PV systems - there are not enough qualified Solar PV installers to meet demand. Candidates must be experienced in the design and installation of domestic single phase circuits and issuing the appropriate documentation. It is essential that the trainee holds a qualification that demonstrates their knowledge and understanding of BS7671 2008 (17th edition wiring regulations), and has a sound knowledge and understanding of the Building Regulations. Typically, eligible candidates will hold an NVQ Level 3 or full scope Part P (Building Regulations) qualification and have at least three years experience, although candidates without an NVQ will be considered if they have sufficient knowledge and experience.
